Cecilia's reasoning is suspicious
Cecilia Sarkozy recently declared that the reason for which her marriage failed with her husbund Nicolas was because they were a normal couple living an extraordinary existence. She said, “What I miss the most is not being able to go to the supermarket with my son Louis.”
So, Cecilia Sarkozy is a normal woman with normal expectations who “fought to the very end to save her marriage.” But these personality traits have not stopped her from appearing in numerous French peoples magazines and giving an interview to the publication ELLE just under two weeks ago. Her powdered nose and air-brushed visage was hypocrisy at its best.
Cecilia blames politics and its alienating effects on her marriage for her rupture with Nicholas Sarkozy. However, she now seems to be choosing a role outside the political realm for one more concentrated inside the realm of celebrity fashion.
In the light of recent events, it is not so much the crushing constraints of life in politics as the desire to live a life of celebrity – where the role of super-modern Mum is the selling point – which has driven Cecilia away from her beloved husband. Currently, I doubt Cecilia has more time to see her children and cook them Spaghetti Bolognese before they go to bed than she had during her time spent in the luxurious confines of the Elysée Palace.
Her recent role in the freeing of the Bulgarian nurses was a sure sign of the benefits of having a husband whose job title is President of the Republic.
Even though Cecilia incarnates an independent woman of great dynamism and diplomatic finesse, I am firmly of the belief that her reasons for leaving Nicolas Sarkozy are not because she saw herself leading a more simple life. Otherwise, why would she be plastered over every French magazine, looking 20 years younger than her actual age.
